After becoming the first African Americans to purchase a group of radio stations (WILD, Boston, WAMO, Pittsburgh & WUFO, Buffalo), SBC purchased a 49% interest in the Mutual Black Network. In October 1979 SBC became 100% owners of Mutual Black Network and changed the name to Sheridan Broadcasting Network (SBN). The merger of NBN and SBN took place in 1991. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, AURN is the only African American owned network radio company in the United States. It is one of the largest networks reaching Urban America, with more than 300 weekly shows, American Urban Radio Networks reaches an estimated 25 million listeners. AURN also has a partnership with the (Sheridan Gospel Network (SGN) ) , a 24-hour syndicated inspirational programming network. AURN also markets and distributes the nationally syndicated ''Doug Banks Radio Show'' in afternoon drive-time. It is the only African-American broadcaster with a bureau in The White House.
